¿Por qué tu tag es "SUDS"?
Why is "SUDS"your tag ?

Firmo SUDS aka SUBWAY SUDS, o SUDSY, como mis amigos más íntimos me llaman.
Empecé en 1985 poniendo mi nombre en una plantilla con forma de batman en la que ponía CONIAS.
Me gustaba Conan y había una compañía que se llamaba Conias Apollo así que cogí ese nombre.
Entonces escribí Dr. Nee aka Doctor Kneecapper por razones obvias.
Suds surgió de un abuso de cuando era niño, ya que mi padre puso mis manos en agua hirviendo de la tetera cuando yo no quise lavar los platos.
La sensación del agua jabonosa escaldada incitaba mi rabia cuando pensaba en ello, y representaba la destrucción que yo estaba creando.
Ahora SUDS significa algo positivo para mi, aunque al principio solo significaban terror.

I write SUDS aka SUBWAY SUDS or SUDSY as my close friends call me.
I started in 1985 with stenciling my name in a batman shape stencil
that said CONIAS. I liked Conan & there was a real estate company called Conias Apollo so I took it. I then wrote Dr. Nee aka Doctor Kneecapper, for obvious reasons.
Suds came about from child abuse coz my stepfather put my hands in
boiling water from the kettle when I wouldnt do the dishes.
The feeling of that scalding soapy water incited rage at the thought
of it & represented the destruction I was causing. Now SUDS means something positive to me, it had horror show beginnings though.

What do you try to say with your graffiti?

Estar siempre evolucionando. Nunca hacer el mismo boceto o idea dos veces.
Me gusta aumentar mis capacidades y retar todo el proceso estilístico.
Me gusta experimentar y ser diferente con mi graffiti y mis obras de arte.

Keep evolving. Never do the same sketch or idea twice. I want to push my own capabilities & challenge the whole style process. I like to experiment & be different with my graffiti & artworks.

Supongo que cualquier oportunidad de ser publicado a partir de ahi esta genial, estoy muy agradecido por todas las propuestas de marketing y media.

I guess any opportunity to get published or out there is great, I am grateful for all avenues of marketing & media.

Graffiti.....¿Calidad o Cantidad?
Graffiti .... Quantity or Quality

Para mí ahora mismo, calidad, sin duda. Antes cuando era mas joven era mas de cantidad.
Ahora tengo una familia, mi tiempo es limitado, asi que cuando lo hago tiene que satisfacerme.
Puedes hablar mierda todo el día y no decir nada, como el bombing, que lo unico que dice es "mirame, estoy en la cumbre, wow"
O puedes decir algo profundo, quemar, y hacer historia. Los bombers nunca llegan a ser recordados realmente.
Puede que "CAP" sea una excepcion a ese comentario, debido a la nostalgia.

Quality for me now definitely. I used to be about quantity in my younger years. Now I have a family time is limited so when I bust it has to satisfy me. You can talk shit all day & say nothing like bombing that only says "look at me, i'm up heaps, wow" Or you can say something profound, burn, & go down in history, bombers never get remembered really. "CAP" may be an exception to that comment due to nostalgia.

¿Piensas que la sociedad acepta el graffiti?

Do you think that society accepts the graffiti?

Realmente no, donde yo vivo al menos no. Hay una clara linea escrita en piedra de "nosotros y ellos". Aun tendra que pasar un tiempo hasta que las ideas equivocadas acerca de nuestro modo de vida sean echadas por tierra.

Not really, not where I live anyway. There is a clear line drawn in
the sand of "us & them".
It will take more time for the misconceptions to be broken down about
our way of life.

¿Nos podrías dar algún consejo para ser igual de bueno que tu en este arte?
Could you give us a piece of advice to be as good as you in this art?

Practica. Ve poco a poco. Escucha a los veteranos. Aprende la historia, y no muerdas.
Recuerda que cuanto mas rápido alcances la fama, mas rápido sera el golpe contra el suelo.
Una estrella fugaz solo es brillante durante un minuto, y despues se apaga. Se como un cometa.
Construye tus fundamentos y sal adelante correctamente, y encontraras tu longevidad.

Practice. Come up slow. Listen to the old schoolers. Learn the
history. & don't bite.
Remember the quicker your rise to fame, the quicker your crash to earth will be.
Like a shooting star, they burn bright for a minute & fizzle. Be like a comet.
Build your foundations & come correct & you'll find your longevity.

¿Cuál es tu estilo?
What is your style?

Mi estilo cambia en cada pieza. No puedes encasillarme, ese es mi estilo. No puedes nombrarlo. Te dejo pensando en qué hare lo siguiente.

The style I use changes every piece. You can't pigeon hole me, that's my style. You can't name it. I keep ya guessing what I'll do next.

¿Qué piensas del graffiti en trenes?
What do you think of graffiti on trains?

Me gusta, aunque creo que la gente le da mas importancia de la que tiene. No puedes hacer eso toda tu vida. Yo hice eso de adolescente, llega un momento en el que tu agenda cambia.
Hay un monton de politica alrededor de todo el tema del graffiti en trenes. El graffiti es muy egocentrico.
Asi que, en el momento en el que entras a la arena de combate, eres, sin ningun miramiento, su objetivo.
Donde yo vivo, Brisbane, esta al rojo vivo. Tenemos mucho estilo emanando de aqui que esta siendo reproducido por todo el mundo.
Australia tiene mas compañias de pintura emergentes que cualquier otro pais que yo conozca. Espero que asi siga. Hay mucha competencia en las industrias ahora mismo, y creo que veremos la caida de muchas de ellas en los siguientes 2 años tambien. Solo el fuerte sobrevivira.

I like it. I don't think it's as important as some make out. You can't do that all your life. I been there done that as a youngster. There comes a time when your agenda changes.
There is alot of politics surrounding train writing. Graffiti is very ego centered.
So the minute you step in the arena you are subject to it regardless. Where I live, Brisbane is on fire. We have alotta style emanating out of here that is being replicated worldwide.
Australia has more paint companies emerging than any other country I know. I just plan to stay original. There's alotta biting going on in the industry, we will see the demise
of alot of them in the next few years too I believe.
Only the strong will survive.

What is your crew?

ICR. Inner City Rebels. Lo deje mientras pintaba en LA.
Habia estado en crews anteriores desde 1990, en una crew de 12 años, la gente muchas veces acaba separandose, pero la ICR tenia ese conocido "sabor familiar".
2 crews llamadas "In Control" & "Civilised Revolution" se unieron para formar la ICR.
Son unos gangster hijos de puta.

I had been in crews before since 1990, one crew for 12 yrs, people sometimes grow apart but ICR had that familiar family flavour. 2 crews called "In Control" & "Civilised Revolution" merged to form ICR. They are some gangster ass motherfuckers let me tell you.
